My name is Yue Liu. Now I am a graduate
student of Graduate School of Library
and Information Science at University of
Texas at Austin. I began my graduate study since Spring, 1999, and I hope I will
graduate at Summer, 2000.
I was born in Lanzhou, Gansu, a city in the
northwest of China. The Yellow River runs across the city. The Yellow River is called the
Mother River of Chinese. I grew up in this city.
I got my bachelor degree of art in Xi'an Jiaotong University. Xi'an is an
old city in China. It has been the capital city of six dynasties in the history of China.
What is famous in Xi'an is the Terror Coda, the old city wall and the The Huaqing Pool.
Xi'an Jiaotong University is a university which has a history over 100 years.
I came to United States of America in May,
1998. Before I came here , I had been working in an international business company for
about two and a half years. There I worked as an interpreter and businesswoman. I like my
job very much.
After I came to United States, I thought it was a good opportunity for me to expand my knowledge. At the same time, the computer networks has been developed very quickly and information technology has been widely used. I would like to learn more on this aspects, therefore, I chose the Graduate School of Library and Information Science to continue my eduation.
During my graduate study, I not only learned knowledge about information technology such as online information rescources, organization of materials, system analysis, management and research, but also I learned more knowledge abut computer and computer programming such as C++, Java. During the time, I have more interests on web design and web development, therefore, I learn about web publishing such as HTML, JavaScript, and using all kinds of web editors and graphic editor tools as Dreamweaver, Frontpage, PhotoShop and Illustrator.
With my five-year working experience in China, my continue education in United States, and spirit of diligence and sense of responsibility, I am confident that I will be competent in my future.
I am a quiet lady, and I like many things.
Because of my study and my work, I have to give up many hobbies, but, if I have time, I would like to repick up my hobbies.
I love music, specially light music.
I love reading novels. Last summer, I stay
at home for about two months, I read many novels. I like Gone With the Wind, Jane Ere,
� The Thorn Bird, The Godfather. I also like a lot of Chinese novels.
I love shopping. But now I have little
money, I occasionally go shopping.
I also love sight-seeing. In 1997, I have
been to Italy for two weeks. I enjoyed the visiting very much. In the My Pictures, there is a photo. In China, I have been to Xi'an,
Chengdu, Xiamen and many other cities, but the three are the best places for sight-seeing.
When I came to USA, I would like to go to Los Angels, Las Vegas, New York and many other
places. During the Christmas, finally, my husband and I had a change to go to the west coast, and we really enjoyed our trip.
My husband is Sheng Yang. Sometimes he is
good, sometimes he is bad.
When I have problem in my Mathematics class,
he is good because he knows more about it than me. When I have problem in using computer,
he is good because he can help me to find the result. When I have to go to school at 7:30
am, he is good because he sends me there although he is very sleepy. When we go out, he is
good because he is the driver.
He is bad when I tell him to do something,
because he always says " wait a moment!". He is bad when I tell to slow down
when he is driving, because he will say "I know" and still keep the speed. He is
bad when he is play computer game, because at that time he will hear nothing that I say.
He is bad when I have to wake him up, because he will stay in bed two or three minutes
more. He is bad when I do not cook the breakfast, because he will eat nothing and go to
school.

My parents are both doctors in Lanzhou. Now
they are enjoying their lives. At the weekend they will go out and have a good rest. If
there is a long weekend, they will go to sight-seeing place with some of their friends.
When I came to USA, they miss me very much.
Every week I will make a phone call to them to let them know that we are good. I also miss
them very much. I hope when I finish my study, I can go home and visit them. In the My Pictures,
